About Project Aquarium

Planted Aquarium - WaitingProject Aquarium is an aquarium portal mostly encompassing planted tanks, aquarium plants, and aquascaping. I am a planted tank enthusiast striving to advance the art of aquatic gardening by sharing my experiences, knowledge, and devotion to the planted aquarium hobby. Project Aquarium is intended to be an educational, honest, and practical source for planted tank information.

I have been an avid aquarist since 1980, starting with a 10 gallon aquarium and blue gravel. Since that time, I have worked with salt water aquariums, fresh water aquariums, and planted tanks. Within the last 4 years, I have focused primarily on planted tanks. In the last year I have had the pleasure to give workshops on planted tanks to local clubs and local fish stores. I enjoy talking with people to share and gain knowledge. We have such a challenging hobby and I have certainly made plenty of mistakes. I hope to share with you my honest opinions and my experiences as I have experienced them.

I approach the planted aquarium as art. I focus on the composition and aquascaping side of planted aquariums. Ever since I saw my first planted aquarium, I have been striving to create compositions that inspire me as well as others. Even with a focus in aquascaping, I have to consistently work on my knowledge of the science and processes behind providing healthy environments for our plants and our critters.

The information within Project Aquarium is based solely on my experiences and my opinions. If you do not agree with something, feel free to contact me or try it for yourself. I post things here to help you get through the more challenging aspects of planted tanks so that you can focus on making your ideas come to life.
